Seminars and workshops

Yoga Sutra study at the Dorchester Yoga and Therapy Centre, 14 Trinity St., Dorchester DT1 1DD

Saturdays 10:45 – 12:15, Dec. 14; 2020 Jan 18, Feb 15, Mar 21, Apl 25

Cost £13

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, probably composed around 2,000 years ago, are universally recognised as the classic teaching and ultimate authority on yoga. Amazingly, they are still completely relevant to our life and times. They were designed to be learnt by heart and consist of 195 short aphorisms, a bit like newspaper headings. They therefore have to be explained and discussed with a teacher who has learnt them with a teacher who has…etc. etc., just as you need to read what comes below the heading in a newspaper. You can come to them all, or to just one, as, although we shall always place the sutra we are studying in its context, each one can be a focus for reflection and meditation by itself.

These sessions are suitable for people who are complete beginners to the Sutra, and for those who have studied them for years. All can have interesting insights to share.

You don’t have to attend every one – each time can be seen as a meditative study session. We shall also chant the sutras, thus connecting with them in a different and very traditional way.
